We believe everyone should be in control of their own life
We support people with care and support needs, whether short or long term. Our work is based on dignity, respect, and choice. We know that every person is different. That’s why we listen carefully and build support around what matters to them.
We see people for who they are, not just the challenges they face. Support should build on strengths. Not just respond to problems.
What We Believe
We don’t work with systems that do things to people. We work with people. We know people are the experts in their own lives.
We are guided by human rights. That means we believe:
Everyone has the right to make their own choices
Every person should be treated with dignity
People should be included and respected
Diversity is a strength, we welcome everyone as they are
Personalised Support at the Heart
We follow the NHS’s six principles of personalised care, which guide how we work:
Choice and control
People have choice and control over their care. Including how it is planned and delivered.
What matters to you
Services are built around what matters to the person. Not just their condition.
Partnership
Each person is treated as an equal partner, with trust and respect.
Looking beyond needs
Support is based on strength and potential. Not just needs or risks.
Connection & support
People feel connected to and supported by the people in their life. Including their family, friends, and community.
Holistic
The approach is flexible and joined-up. It responds to the person’s whole life.
These principles match what we stand for. They place people at the center, with the power to shape their lives.
Real People, Real Lives
We work with each person to plan support that fits their life, values, and goals. This could be short-term help or long-term care. Whatever the situation, we focus on what you need to live your life, your way.
We are building a future where:
- Every voice is heard
- Every choice is respected
- Every person can thrive
At Humans Cornwall, people come first. Always.
Holistic support: looking at the bigger picture
We know care is about more than health. That’s why we take a whole-person approach. We consider every aspect of life when creating a support plan. We look at practical, emotional and social needs. This helps us promote wellbeing and independence.
We focus on six key areas to ensure our support is holistic. Swipe through the carousel below to learn more about these areas.

Maximising household income
Helping people to get financial support. For example, through welfare benefits. This can help you feel secure and reduce financial stress.

Independent living and equipment
We look at assistive devices and equipment that:
- Promote your independence and dignity.
- Help you to overcome daily challenges.
This could be mobility aids, personal care kits, or other.

Housing and home environment
We make sure homes are safe, comfortable, and accessible. We can achieve this with easy changes, like moving furniture. Or use grants for bigger projects.

Harnessing technology
We use technology as an alternative to care visits. It can be a dignified and convenient way to make everyday tasks easier. Such as using it for medication prompts or online shopping.

Social and leisure
Social and leisure activities make us happy and are key for our well-being. We help people find ways to:
- Stay connected with loved ones.
- Get outdoors.
- Attend community activities.
- And more.

Training, volunteering, and employment
We support people to:
- Access education.
- Find meaningful work.
- Explore volunteering opportunities.
Helping them build confidence and purpose.
Our Way of Working
We look at the whole person, not just their care needs
This includes:
- Health and well-being
- Family and social life
- Daily routines and personal choices
- Money and independence
- Feeling part of the community
These areas are all connected. When one part isn’t working, it can affect everything else. That’s why our support is joined up, flexible, and built around the person.
